A traffic accident in the San Carlos district has left one person dead and another seriously injured. The tragedy occurred near the bridge over the Corona River.
According to preliminary reports, the crash happened around 2:10 a.m. on Saturday. The National Directorate of Traffic Operations of the National Police reported that the driver of a pickup truck collided with the bridge, causing the vehicle to fall into the river.
Personnel from the Benemérito Fire Department of the Republic of Panama (BCBRP) rescued one person from inside the vehicle. The injured individual was transported to a hospital in serious condition.
Upon the arrival of Public Ministry officials, the second occupant was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the morgue.
